Using the Eval Function
Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC
A new function in ASP 3.0 and VBScript 5.0, the Eval function will evaluate a function stored in a string variable and return the value. The simple version works like this:
Response.Write Eval("5 + 4")
This prints out the value 9. However, the routine is a lot smarter than that. If you have a variable declared, you can use the variable within the Eval function and perform calculations with it. Here's an example:
Dim i
i = 20
Response.Write Eval(i + 20)
This prints out the value 40.
