Using n-Tier Techniques with ASP
Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC
Just like a VB application, an ASP application can make use of business objects that have been compiled into ActiveX DLLs. In fact, by putting your business logic in ActiveX DLLs, you can share the logic between a VB client and an ASP application.
In order to gain access to these ActiveX DLLs, you have to install your DLL on the server where your ASP application is stored. Once that's done, you can instantiate one of your objects in the same way you create an ADO object, for instance:
Dim objMine ' As MyLibrary.MyObject
Set objMine = Server.CreateObject("MyLibrary.MyObject")
ActiveX DLLs can be created in Visual Basic and Visual C++. You may have to use the Packaging and Deployment Wizard to install your library and all the support files on the web server.
