Using Type Libraries

Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC

Ever get tired of not having all the built-in constants available to you in ASP? You can use a type library in your ASP pages, just as you might do in a tool like Visual Basic. Here's an example of the code you need to include the msado15.dll file, which makes all the ADO constants available:

<!--METADATA type="typelib" FILE="C:\INetPub\www\ msado15.dll" -->

In this example, the msado15.dll file has been copied into the web directory where this ASP page is located. You can, however, point to other files on your system in your system directory, for instance, instead of copying them to multiple places. All of the built-in constants are now available in your ASP page.
