Using MTS Components with ASP

Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC

In a previous tip, I mentioned that components you use with Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) have to first be registered on the server before you can add them to the package. This is not exactly correct. If you are using the Import Component feature when you select Add Component, MTS only lists the components that are registered. However, the Import Files feature will let you pick a DLL that isn’t necessarily registered and use it within an MTS package. You can also drag-and-drop components from Windows Explorer into an MTS Package. MTS automatically registers the components for you when you add them in either of the two latter methods.
