Using API Calls in ASP

A question that has been sent to me a few times is whether or not you can use API calls from within an ASP page. The answer is yes, but with a few caveats. The API calls have to be encapsulated within an ActiveX DLL that is registered on the server, and the API calls will return results from the server, not the client. Without using an ActiveX control of some sort, you won't be able to call APIs directly on a user's machine from an ASP page.
