Register Your DLLs

Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC

If you're building applications that use either custom-built or third-party DLLs, remember that you have to register them on the web server in order to use them. If you don't, a common error message is "Server.CreateObject failed" without any further details. If you get one of these messages, make sure that all your DLLs are registered using REGSVR32.EXE. A handy tip I'd recommend is to associate your DLL files with the RegSvr32 utility. Double-clicking a DLL file will register it once you've created the association.
