Index Server Manager

Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC

Trying to figure out how to build a full-text catalog with IIS? The controls aren't in the Internet Service Manager – at least, not all of them are. When you create a site or virtual directory, you have the option to index the content by checking a check box on one of the dialogs. However, this won't automatically create a full-text index. To do this, you need to go into the Windows NT Option Pack program group and start the Index Service Manager. That tool, which also runs within the Microsoft Management Console framework, will let you control what content is indexed and where the catalogs are stored.
