Eliminate Space in Tables

Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC

Ever have an HTML table that doesn't quite line up? It could be because of extra blank lines in the HTML code. It's not supposed to make a difference to HTML; however, it does seem to in certain browsers. To eliminate the chance of getting some stray white space, you can construct your tables like this:
<table>
<tr>
<td> <!--
--> <a href="test.asp"> <!--
--> <img src="test.gif"> <!--
</a> </td>
</tr>
</table>
The goal is to make everything within a TD tag a continuous line of text with no white space in the file. Using the comments to break the lines accomplishes this goal.
