ASP Collections
Written by Eric Smith, Northstar Computer Systems LLC
Many of the objects in ASP are actually collection objects. The Cookies, QueryString, and Session objects are all collections. Unlike their Visual Basic cousin, however, these collections are somewhat limited. You can iterate through an ASP collection using the For Each/Next statement or loop through using the For/Next statement. You have an Item and Count property to provide information about the collection. However, you don't have an Add or Remove method. To add a new item (where relevant), you simply specify the new item:
Response.Cookies("newcookie") = "new value"
This adds the item into the collection. Removing an item is the reverse:
Response.Cookies("newcookie") = ""
Since retrieving a non-existent cookie returns an empty string, setting the value to an empty string takes care of the removal aspect.
